The finish that turns a pool into a destination

It is a pool whose shell is finished with a blend of cement, polymers and quartz aggregate applied over the concrete. It is neither paint nor a liner: it is a mineral finish about one centimetre thick, applied and trowelled on site. That is where the sandy feel underfoot comes from — and the colour of the water, which comes from the aggregate itself rather than a dye.

Yes — renovations are half of what we do. The finish goes onto new builds and onto existing pools alike: lifting mosaic tile, flaking chlorinated-rubber paint, ageing fibreglass or bare concrete. The surface is prepared first and primed with Bond-Tite bonding agent, which is what secures the grip on the old substrate. There is no need to demolish the shell.

A beach entry is a gentle slope that runs into the water without steps, like the shoreline. It is straightforward to design into a new build. On an existing pool it depends on the shape of the shell and the structural work involved — it is the first thing we check when you send us photos.

The finish is slip-resistant thanks to the texture of the aggregate itself, which is why it is used on steps and beach entries. If you want the softest feel for a family pool or a children’s area, the Freestone range is made with natural pebbles and gives a smooth, non-abrasive surface.

It is a highly durable mineral finish, with no liner to come unstuck and no paint to redo every few seasons. Maintenance is the same as for any pool: keep the pH and sanitiser in range, and brush the surface. Badly unbalanced water — persistently low pH, too much chlorine — attacks any finish, so water balance is what extends its life the most.

Yes. It is installed in saltwater pools just as in pools with conventional chlorine. What matters is not the sanitising system but keeping the water balanced: salt on its own does not harm the finish — uncontrolled pH does.

It depends on the area to be finished — floor and walls, not the water surface. As a guide, an 8 × 4 m pool with an average depth of 1.5 m comes to around 70 m². Send us the dimensions and we’ll come back with a material estimate.

There are 35 standard colours across two ranges. Marquis is quartz aggregate and gives the water a deep turquoise, with a slip-resistant surface that works as well on the floor as on the steps. Freestone is made with natural pebbles and feels the softest underfoot.

No — and this matters. The material is applied by trained applicators: trowelling, curing times and substrate preparation all determine the final result and the warranty. That is why we work through a network of authorised dealers and give certified training to the crews who apply it.
